Out of the House of Life

This story-within-a-story focuses on Saint Germain's lover, Madelaine, as she participates in early French archeological excavations in Egypt in the 1820's. As Madelaine vies with jealous and misogynistic male academics, Saint Germain sends her letters reminiscing about the hundreds of years he lived in dynastic Egypt, slowly progressing from slave to master healer in The House of Life.
