Originally published in 1975, Stephen King's second novel explores what might happen if a vampire like Dracula relocated to a small Maine town. Widowed novelist Ben Meers returns to Jerusalem's Lot, where he grew up, to work out some old issues. At the same time, a pair of mysterious strangers arrive in town and buy a creepy old mansion with a ghastly history--and local residents gradually begin to sicken and die. Things become even more disturbing, however, when the deceased refuse to stay dead. As the town slowly becomes vampirized, Ben and a handful of others grow aware of what's happening and join together to resist.
