Assaults and kidnappings, connivery and betrayal ensue as the two vampire slayers encounter a biker and a couple of rootless teens, and Cat tells Sam about her miserable marriage and how she got involved with Elliot in the first place. The dead Elliot exerts a creepy influence over the story's participants even though he's been staked and stashed in the trunk, as inexplicable and eerie events plague the couple. Bite is a "vampire road novel" with some unexpected twists.
