Carmilla

The 1871 novella that predated Dracula by twenty years, Carmilla is very faithful to traditional European vampire folklore and ghost stories. The sinister relationship between the heroine and the languorous, clinging Carmilla inspired numerous explicitly lesbian interpretations of the story in modern films.
